The Maxxis Rekon Mountain Bike Tire is designed for intermediate and challenging terrains, derived from the Ikon model. Its broad central knobs provide stability during braking, while the L-shaped side knobs ensure dependable support when navigating loose turns. This combination of features makes the Rekon an excellent choice for both racing and exploration on the trail.

Available in 27.5" and 29" sizes, the Rekon tire is offered with a variety of puncture protection and rubber compound options to suit different riding conditions. The EXO and EXO+ puncture protection layers added to the sidewalls offer exceptional cut and abrasion resistance, making them ideal for rugged, rocky trails where the risk of sidewall damage is high.

For all-around trail riding and light e-bike use, the EXO+ variant features a durable 60 TPI casing, the legendary EXO puncture protection, and a butyl insert around the bead to guard against pinch flats and rim damage.

The 3C MaxxTerra compound used in the Rekon tire provides an intermediate level of traction, treadwear, and rolling resistance, striking a balance between the faster-rolling 3C MaxxSpeed and the higher-grip 3C MaxxGrip compounds. This makes the 3C MaxxTerra well-suited for a wide range of trail riding conditions.

Tubeless-ready by design, the Rekon tire can also be used with inner tubes if desired, offering the flexibility to adapt to various setups. When used tubeless, riders can take advantage of lower tire pressures for improved grip and reduced rolling resistance.

For optimal performance, it's recommended to match the tire width to the internal rim width. The Rekon is available in 2.20", 2.25", 2.40", 2.80", and 2.60" widths, catering to a range of riding styles from cross-country to all-mountain. Wider tires generally provide a more stable and forgiving ride, but may slightly impact rolling efficiency.
